    Solitude

I have to be honest - I'm excited about this painting.
It came out, imo, with exactly the kind of feeling I wanted it to express.
Had a heck of a time with the horse. I really wanted the horse in there drinking from the river, because I felt it was a really important part of the painting, but I just could not get it right. I didn't want to use someone else's stencil for something I considered important to the painting, so, I finally resorted to my "reverse" technique.
    1. I found a horse image, made a stencil of it, then, expanded the stencil until it was very big - then filled it in with paint.
2.With that as an oversized reference image, I painted a copy image, with no effort to keep the shape correct, just oversized.
3.Then I used the eraser to trim down the shape until I was happy with it.
    4. I then made a stencil out of the oversized horse image I had just painted
    5. In my painting, reduced the stencil that I had created, to the size I needed - and painted it in.
A little unorthadox, but, it works.

Doesn't matter the process, barnburner, but you got a horse and it was not stolen... very pretty scene... deep and quiet and thought provoking.
