    Red face My first creation....

    Helloo everyone

I am new to the forums and VERY new to art in general. I have had little to no experience with art so this is a whole new experience for me. I did actually start about a year ago on pencil sketching and learning how to see objects in a totally new light. I got some much needed help and experience through the Drawspace website which taught me some fundamentals but I have a looong way to go on learning! I really enjoy digital art, especially since all of the little tools are right here already! lol I LOVE the layer feature. It sure takes out the question of what came first, the chicken or the egg in creating something. lol

After a year of waiting to purchase one of the full Art Rage programs, I finally got a little birthday money together and purchased Art Rage Pro a few days ago. However, the first ideas of what to play with and what to create were......NOTHING! lol I drew a complete blank (no pun intended). I am so overwhelmed by the vast amounts of things I could create with the numerous tools that are available in Art Rage Pro. I began looking through numerous images you all have created here in the forums and I came across a couple that really caught my eye that I would like to take a stab at.
I have a couple of problems, however.

I had sifted through so many images created by so many people that I plucked a few here and there to use as references. The problem is, I don't know the general rules for using other people's images as a reference. Some of the images I plucked here and there that caught my attention were images that I did not record who actually created them. I never really thought about it at the time. This first image I'm posting is off of one of those reference images and I'll include the original as well. I truly apologize if I am unsure of who created the original. This is just somewhat of a "doodle" time for me to test out the features of the program.

If any of you recognize this image that I used, please let me know and I will definitely give credit for it! I thought it was just too cool and I wanted to play around and try it out.

So, with all of that said, here is my image so far. I feel like it's missing something or needs help but I'm just not sure what! I could use some assistance from some real artists out there. Constructive criticism is much appreciated! I'll explain a little more about some of this after you all have a chance to view it.

UGH btw, I had to resize the image for it to fit. It was 600X800 saved as a .png and it came out perfectly clear. It wouldn't fit I guess so I made it 460X680 and .jpg. It looks terrible on here.

Not sure what saves best but I know it can come out looking better than this.

Also, I free handed the notes on this image and wanted there to be some shadow but it just looks.....I dunno....bad! LOL

Any ideas on this? and the blank areas? should they remain blank? would it be too busy with more included?

YESSS I found her! The original is from Sabena's gallery website. She has SUCH beautiful work!!

Sabena, if you see this, my apologies to you on not recalling where I had seen your image. I really sifted through so much that day and only picked out a few images but could not remember where I found yours. I LOVE your works!!
