    Your Opinion: World's top recognizable art pieces

    It is Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist's Mother,
    David
    Last Supper

    ?????

    For several international cartooning contests, I am interested in your opinion to compile a list of art that would be recognized worldwide.

    TIA

    The order on that list surprises me, and I haven't heard of the top artists. Are they universally recognised by everyone but me?

    Well, I do even know less of them.

    I do not know

    Piet Mondrian's
    JMW Turne
    Edward Hopper
    Ernst Kirchner's
    George Seurat

    Maybe I have seen some paintings of them somewhere, but would not recognize them.

    After all, I would prefer to add Gaudi to the list. Barcelona is full of his
    wellknown art.

    Regards.

    @sunflower;
    For a Dutch person you should a least know Mondriaan
    Hopper is my favourite but knew this one before I knew it was Hopper.

    Here some adding to the list of all around knowing art;
    Picasso,Dali,Rembrandt
    but also Haring,Warhol

    @hakoo:

    you're right, I do know Mondriaan, and Vermeer, Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Shame on me if I didn't.

    I was referring to William Bouguereau, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Jean-Leon Gerome being the top 3 on the ARC list.

    Not suprising the largest number of hits place a trio of more obscure classicists in the top 3. It's self-reinforcing.
