wouldn't this be great for a new feature

A feature I would really like to see is to work on a "lower resolution" image (say 1900x1100 or something) with all brushstrokes being recorded (as is being done by the undo as it is). Then choose to "redo" the painting at a much higher resolution automatically.

That way you get the immediacy and fluidness of working at a lower res combined with the quality of a high resolution image.

I would really really really like this as a feature.

    yeah, me too.
Or you could play those strokes again from a file on the net, intended as tutorial .
really learn the software on your own speed.
Just say: "Rage It", because we already know it's art.

That's a really neat idea. BOTH of them.

The ability to save all the "steps" of creating a painting in a separate file could have many applications...

    I love those ideas !
I am working on a netbook, and it is difficult at best to handle high res pictures.
On the other hand, it is very convenient to be able to zoom in the image, so I guess that the first solution will have its own limits.

    Scripting, a la Painter 6.

Networked painting would be a short distance from that, too.
