How do I blur a layer?

Is there a way to blur a layer without using an external image editor like Pixelmator (exporting and importing in ArtRage Studio Pro)? I like the atmospheric effect of blurring.

(ArtRage Studio Pro on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard)

    Hi Purple Box,

Yes, if you are using ArtRage Studio Pro you will have access to the Blur feature. Just select the layer you wish to blur or use the Selection tool to select an area of the layer and then go to Edit > Blur Layer to pull up the Blur panel where you can apply the amount of blur you'd like (see attached image).

Thanks! I wonder why I missed that.
