Rules for Being Human & I Wish You Enough

Just passing on wisdom from a book called 'Chicken Soup for the Soul'.
    Enjoy!
P.S. You may pass these on, but take time to understand their meaning first.
Not sure if I've posted this before, but have a look anyway.

    1. You will receive a body.
You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period of this time around.

    2. You will learn lessons.
You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called 'Life'. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid but they are lessons nevertheless.

    3. There are no mistakes, only lessons.
Growth is a process of trial and error: Experimentation. The 'failed' experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately 'works'.

    4. A lesson is repeated until learned.
A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson.

    5. Learning lessons does not end.
There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

    6. 'There' is no better than 'here'.
When your 'there' becomes a 'here', you will simply obtain another 'there' that will again look better than 'here'.

    7. Others are merely mirrors of you.
You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.

    8. What you make of your life is up to you.
You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

    9. Your answers lie inside you.
The answers to Life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust.

    10. You will forget all this.
    I Wish You Enough

Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments
together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, 'I
love you, and I wish you enough.'

The daughter replied, 'Mum, our life together has been more than enough.
Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mum.'

They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window
where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to
cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by
asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be
    forever?'

'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a
    forever good-bye?'.

'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the
reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral,' she said.

'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.'
May I ask what that means?'

She began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other
generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.' She paused a moment
and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and she smiled even
more. 'When we said, 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other
person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain
them.' Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were
    reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how grey
    the day may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may
    appear bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

She then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to
appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget
    them.

    TAKE TIME TO LIVE...

To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.

My what a moving story, I am assuming this is not your personal story of meeting this person but something you found?
    And what beautiful sentiments.
As for the rules to live by, I can assure you number 10 is correct in my case.

My mum sent me the story, I don't know, I think she got it from a friend.

I love your choice of reading materials. I read many of the same books. They are great and there is much wisdom within the pages.

I long ago adopted as my personal credo, the following:

    The Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
