Two Studies in Textures & Illusion

I posted this recently in my AR3 thread. Several people suggested I give this its own thread because often paintings are being missed in the big thread.. So I'm will start giving paintings their own threads again but continue to also post them in my AR3 thread as an archive too.

These two similar but different paintings were exploring ways to assemble two different ideas. The same painting base is used to carry the original idea in two different directions, building both ideas simultaneously. These were fun and interesting to build (somewhat challenging) and I hope you enjoy them. Comments and commentary are welcomed.
    • 100% AR3sp
    • Airbrush, Ink Pen, Oil Paint Brush, Tube Paint, Glitter, a tiny bit Sticker Spray Gun, Palette Knife, Eraser. 24 layers. No filters or borrowed stencils.
    • Visual effects designed into the paintings are better observed by blowing them up full-screen and viewing at a distance.

Byron, I am so happy that you are doing this. Sometimes it will show as having already been read, and I have overlooked so many. I posted before on this one, I think it is fantastic!

I was looking at these two abstract paintings few days ago, then got busy. However, they stays in my head because of the heavy textures, layering and your usual Pink palette.

This time as your title has stated, the illusion, let me have so many images in these..but still can't see what you are based from..or maybe you simply just let the tools led you. So, instead, ha, I am counting on those 24 layers and all your tools ....and also put them side by side, flipping them quickly....and then, i see how the 3D look changes to transparent effect, and create that eye illusion . Like from 3D terrain looking up above then covers with the rainbow. My imagination.

Maybe, you will interest, what kind of images I see at first sight. The top one I saw two 3D sculpture faces on the top left. The bottom one, I see two gypsy ladies dancing.
