I wanted to show you (the quick way) how I used the layers in a previous posted drawing.
I made a pencildrawing, scanned it inat 300DPI .
I smoothed out the drawing , and touched it up a little bit.
Resampled it to 100DPI, keeping the same dimensions as from the 300DPI size.
Import the drawing in Artrage2.
Duplicate the layer, click the little arrow in the layers panel.Choose "layer blending" ; "More Blend Modes"; "Multiply". This makes the drawing a bit heavier in the contrasts.Put opacity to 57%

Above this layer, I make a new one...
I will be painting on this ,and the above layers with the crayon tool. Pressure 27% and lower, and softness at 100%

This layer was made into Colormode, I used a strong orange color,I left the irises blanc.I used anothe color for the beard, and after painting, I reduced the layer opacity to 57%

Above this layer a new one, on which I painted some blushing on the cheeks and ears. Again after painting, put the layer opactity back to 26% .these are not absolute values, you must try it out for yourself.

Another new layer, normal mode, for more intense coloring,like the lips and ears.Opacity to 12%
On this layer I also painted highlights with pure white. Paint this soft and light.

almost there.The drawing started to get heavy for my old computer, so I merged the bottom 3 layers.

I added two more layers for finishing touches, both in normal mode.For opacity, see picture.
The first one was to add darker tones to the ears and around the nose.As well as the more severe highlight on the nose and so.
The top one was for the color of the irises, and some hairstrands

(for showing purposes, I made the bottom layer invisible.)
