    AR Thumb Nail for Windows

    Hi,

I spent some time looking in the Forum, but could not find a post on viewing AR projects as Windows thumbnails when browsing my AR art folders. It sure would help as having to open files just to see which project is which is a bit of a drag.

    Thanks,

    Jim Gahl

There is a free thumbnail Windows Shell extension installer which you can download from our support pages:
Windows XP and Vista 32 bit:

Windows XP and Vista 64 bit:

No Thumbnail Views: Window 7 64 bit

Hi there. Long time no talk. I hope all goes splendid.

I've a new Windows 7 64 bit computer. I installed the 64 bit viewer which appears written only up through Vista (?). Alas, no thumbnail views. Is there a new viewer?
    AR3 Version is 3.0.8.

    Hi Byron!

The Thumbnail viewer is included with the ArtRage installer now. We've noticed that on 64 bit Windows there can be a problem failing to register the thumbnail viewer on installation. Here's what to do to manually register the dll ( 64 bit Windows only )

1/ In your Start Menu, go to 'All Programs' then 'Accessories'

2/ Right click on 'command prompt' and choose 'Run as Administrator'
    then confirm the security prompt

3/ In the command prompt window, enter the following ( note, this is assuming that ArtRage Studio is installed to the default location )

    cd\program files (x86)\ambient design\artrage studio pro

4/ You should now be in the ArtRage Studio installation folder. Enter the
    following:

    Regsvr32 ar3thumb64.dll

You should see a success message in a popup window.

    5/ Restart your computer

    Thanks Dave.
    This worked.

Note to others: Even if you think you are the administrator, when you select "Command Prompt", right click and select "Run as Administrator". The solution only worked for me when selecting "Run as Administrator" even though I AM the administrator. (This is running 64 bit Windows 7. Could be different elsewhere.)

    Thanks again Dave. Much appreciated.
