What is your preferred canvas size?

    Interested in practical canvas size
-allowing for balance of detail and system responsiveness

Are there any other considerations that make for part of the equation?

Do you start small and then resize?

    What works best?

I have my default canvas size set at 2400x1200, then in the process i make corrections to the size. I'm doing the sketches at 50% zoom, then moving to 100% and going deeper into detail.

I usually use around 1400 by 2000, and crop and resize continually.

    Question Hmmm

I have only really done two works in AR
Both were set at 5000 * 2000 +/-. Havent tried cropping yet from within . A little reluctant to go smaller than this in case I accidentally create something that is worth printing! Tend to use the same dimensions in Xara

I just use 2250x3300 (a4 at 300dpi) because I'm used to the size and shape from traditional "art" on a normal sheet of paper I pull out of my printer when artistic moments hit me. It's a tad sluggish with the airbrush and pallet knives, but then, I've got two cores clocking at 1.8gHz, I expect it to be a little slow. The computer I'm building has 4 cores clocking at 3.4 each. I love AMD. That sucker is a mere 200 bucks: You can build a computer for 500 bucks that clocks a whacking 13.4 gHz. If you go Intel, you have to void the warranty and overclock a thousand dollar processor to even get close.

A few default sizes depending on what I'm doing...

    1) 1920 x 1080 (300 dpi) - 16 x 9 (24p HD (High Definition))
    2) 2350 x 1000 (300 dpi) - "Widescreen" Cinemascope Format
    3) 2700 x 3600 (150 dpi) - 18" x 24" Quick Sketch/Drawing Size

Not too sluggish unless I pile on the layers...A dual Quad
MacPro and lots of RAM (8 Gigs) helps.
