    Colour Analysis of an image

    Hello to all AR folks,
    I have been wondering...

Having imported a photo image into AR,
Is there an automated way to do a colour analysis of the image
i.e. Open say an instant palette of the top 20 most prevalent colours in the file, perhaps with colour values averaged out according to size of palette chosen.

Would be interested in any thoughts on this or similar.
    Thanks

I have been drawing from photos on the ArtRage Reference Photos group on Flickr.
I use the photo on ArtRage as a reference and then pick the colors with the color picker tool. I then open the pallette from the little box in the color wheel and post them there. The only problem is that I cannot arrange them. This way I get the same color as in the photo.
You might also try using a template and getting the colors from it but, then you do not pick any colors.
    Just a few suggestions.
    Maybe 3.0 will solve this.

    Thanks Ray

Yes, have just been experimenting with process you mention, Re 3.0 I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Found an interesting link here at

If I get time over Xmas I will give it a test drive and see how it works alongside AR 3.0 (assuming released before same).

you can take a photo and put it in Ms paint and grab from the corner of the pic and shrink it, then in large it and do this over and over until you get the palette you desire of the colors in the photo.
