    That Darn Cat!

    Hi

    Since.. Think last Monday
My ArtRage seems to have developed a bit of a problem
    Basically!
Every now and again when I open ArtRage...
It won't let me do anything except move the canvas around
I know straight away when this is going to happen.
Coz every time it happens... Checking For Updates appears as I open my ArtRage.
And It always comes with... That Darn Cat!

I'm not talking about the weekly check for updates.
As up until last Monday... I only saw checking for updates once a week on a Sunday.
And not normally with the cat

The only way to make ArtRage work again...
Is to shutdown my laptop and start it up again
    Very Frustrating!

    Please Help!

    Thanks In Advance!

Not sure if i understand you correctly, but did you try to disable the auto-update feature, maybe this helps?

    Hi Andro

    Funny You Should Ask!
    Coz..
I actually did turn my ArtRage automatic updates OFF just yesterday afternoon.
After yet again... Another case of having to shutdown my laptop - & - Boot up again!
    Just to get ArtRage working

We'll See How Things Go Now!

    Stranege Though!
How ArtRage was fine up until last Monday.
Perhaps something changed when ArtRage did it's genuine check for updates last Sunday

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I can see what's happening there.

ArtRage will launch the updater if the spacebar is held down during its startup. It will also drag the canvas if the spacebar is held down. If your spacebar is not held down or sticky ( which seems unlikely ), then another piece of software on your system is telling Windows that the spacebar is pressed, then ArtRage is getting this information as it starts up. When you restart your computer, that resets the status of the spacebar, so ArtRage launches normally.

If you've been vieweing flash content on the internet before launching ArtRage ( like youtube, web animations ), that could do it. Try tapping the spacebar once before you launch ArtRage. If that doesn't help, it may be worthwhile closing down other applications before you launch ArtRage to see if you can see which one is doing this.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi Dave

I know for sure I'm not pressing the spacebar while opening ArtRage.
    When I use ArtRage...
Just about the only thing that I might have open at the same time is Adobe Reader 9
So I can read the ArtRage Manual.
And the problem still happens even if I haven't got or had Adobe open.
Anything else is only what normally runs in the background on my laptop.
    Like... Anti-Virus, Firewall, etc.
Nothing is new ( No New Software ) since getting ArtRage.
The spacebar doesn't seem sticky at all

The only thing I can think of...
A few times when I've been using ArtRage, I've managed to click something that makes like a frame around ArtRage for a split second.
    Too Fast To See Properly!
I think it could be my Taskbar that I've caught with the mouse.
    But Not Certain!

    Anyway!
I've turned off Auto Update now .. So will see how things go!

    Thanks!
