Could you please explain the term 'plein air'?

    Hi Doug,

    Literally "Out doors".

For me, there are too many distractions and the light keeps changing. It works well for fast impressionistic painters.

Oh, ok-so it's just trying to be fancy!

Like saying that you're having vichy sois instead of saying
    you're having cold potato soup!

    Thanks, Phil.

Plein aire is more natural than blackberry. . . aire.

But digital aire has much to be said for it, not least of which is that with plein aire you have to contend with dog doo, while with digital one may invoke the miracle of "Undo". This results in much cleaner paintings on the hole.

    Ignore this.

Cool idea, been sketching outdoors and i love getting out in the fresh air to do that, can't see why it would be any different to paint out there.

    Hi Dakey,

Have you tried Evian Air? It falls to the floor if you don't breath fast enough.

Ah, then you mean it's like Londonderry Aire? Methinks a strolling minstrel did sing the verse on the road to Dover, he did.

    Ignore this as well.
