    Deeply Blue Iris: A challenge

We've had such a success with the lavishly red tulip thread from a while back that I thought maybe we'd try our hand at a new flower with a new color? This is what I've come up with: the bluest of blue irises that I've seen this year, from my neighbor's house. Like before, I've put up a few photos to give you an idea of form and color....if you need larger files, they're up full-size at my deviant art account. Alas, I only made the stencil in a smallish format. Thought I'd share it anyway, just for kicks because someone might find it useful.
I look forward to seeing what we come up with on this one!

Here's my contribution, made with generous use of layers and the "Difference" filter.

    Wow!

Hi Foxy, Double wow! Both on the photos and the artwork. What a fantastic job on both. You sure know how to pick winner flowers too. About that "Difference" filter. Is that is ArtRage? And hi Yael (flexcar), pretty interesting image you have there. Foxytocin has some great ideas. You can check out her blog link listed above. There are lots of tutorials in the "Tips and Tricks" section of the forum. I have a tutorial there and a thread about how to use stencils. You'll find most everyone to be very friendly here. By the way I was just checking out your web site. Such beautiful work! I can't wait to see what else you are going to come up with in the digital area. Like yourself I delve into various areas of the fine arts. I haven't had a chance to check out all of your work yet, but I saw you have varied interests too. Feel free to check out my links below. My tutorial is also posted on my gallery site. However, this one is for stencils. Not sure if that's something you are interested in. There is much more to my gallery though. I'm as varied in my artwork as I am in my interests in the art field. You'll find Foxytocin a real blessing too. She is constantly challenging us here on AR with her beautiful flower photos and lovely stencils. A good thing. Blessings, Cathy

    Challenge

Hey Foxy girlie! Hope you don't mind. I think I am learning from you a bit. The "challenge" thing seems to work. So I think I'm going to use that in my threads in the "Art Projects" part of the forum from now on. Heehee!

    Digital Tutorials

Hi Yael (Flexcar), Me again. Here is a link for a great place to start. It is listed at the top of the "Tips and Tricks" section of the forum also. There are lots of great tutorials -- from basics -- to more advanced tutorials listed here. http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums...ad.php?t=12938 I hope this helps! Blessings, Cathy

And let the creativity games start! Yael, I don't know how you made that...there's a half a dozen intriguing elements at the least.
Cathy, as alway, your kindness and generosity shine through. In answer to your question, yes, the difference filter is one of the layer options in ArtRage. It's paired with the "Exclusion" filter when you select the cell options. Does that make sense?

And Peter, that dolphin looks positively beautific and quite friendly. And sooooooo soft. He surely is the envy of all the other dolphins in the pod.

ArtRage 2.5 doesn't use "filters" as far as know. Most likely the "Difference" option being referred to is the one found within the layer menu Blend modes.
