    Talking THE King

I've not had Art Rage that long and I'm still learning how to use the tools and such. Also, I'm kind of, well let's just call it 'color challenged'. Not so good with the colors...nope, not at all. I normally do black and white pics for folks, a 3 x 5 pic, a projector, couple pencils, erasers, chamois cloth and my beloved stump. In a couple of hours I can turn out a fairly photo realistic picture. I've been getting a lot of requests lately for digital art, so here I am.

So I was looking around for something to draw. One of the supervisors that sits near my cubicle is a big Elvis fan, so I figured what the heck. Let's see what this puppy can do. As I said I'm normally a pencil kind of guy anyhow, so here's my first attempt at some pencil art.

    Crits always welcome.
Pic resized to 60% so I can post it here.

This is looking awesome Little_John! I was the same way before digital, I mainly did pencil art mainly because I didn't have the money for paint, and the way I mix paint, it was really expensive. So here we are, all the paint you want, it never runs out. Have fun, explore, and I will love to see the final version of this.

Terrific first shot in AR. It's THE KING alright.
AR is easy for exploring all kinds of options. Great way to branch out without the mess and cost of real paint and canvas.
Hope you stick around and show us more.

    Red face Thanks All

It's true, canvas and paints can be expensive and I'm loving the fact that I never run out of paint. Hey, for that matter I've not broke one lead since I started this pic. Awesome stuff.

I've spent some time today playing with this. Awesome stuff. Really fun playing around with color. It has opened my eyes about work that I've missed out on doing.

Still having a hard time figuring out how to do some of the stuff I do on paper and I've got to say I am REALLY missing my stump and my chamois cloth about right now. I used to lightly go over an area that was supposed to be a highlight and then hit it with the chamois cloth then BINGO, highlight.

I'm getting it figured out though. Using my eraser big and lightly to do what my chamois used to do.

Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement.

    Update

Okay, so I've touched up some stuff. Hope you all like it.

I can't believe I didn't post the reference image...how are you supposed to crit something if you don't have the reference, duh...

I'm going to bed, I can't see what I'm drawing any more and my fingers are yelling obscene things at me...

Looks like I've still got a ways to go to get this one right, but tomorrow is another day.

I'd sooner destroy a stained glass window...than have a genius like you cut off a finger. You need those, but thank you for the extremely kind words.
