felt pen permanent settings - how?

Don't understand presets. NK how to get white paper
and not transparent (new layer - kind of tracing over 30% opacity layer)
    (NOT using tracing facility).

Also keep getting grey not black ink. Thought I'd sorted that
    from previous help.

How do I get same settings, say from a template?
    Requirements: picture 2000 pixels x 1500 @ 100%, 300dpi.
    Felt pen: 100%, 45%, 35%.

Whatever I try, I keep having to re-set almost every time.
    Sorry but manual bamboozles me.

Can anyone help re possible template. I only want the one.
    Thanks.

Without creating an actual image, begin as though you were about to do so with image sized and with all of the settings you mentioned. Then Save that (non) image. Now, every time you want to use all of those same settings, you can do so when you Open that (non) image.

Thanks. I now have a blank TEMPLATE
    (300dpi with desired settings).
But how do I get the original ptg rough to appear
in a 30% opacity layer to trace (sort of) over
    on that TEMPLATE ?
When I try to open an existing ptg or import a
jpg image . . . my TEMPLATE is REPLACED
by that ptg or jpg. I want the two together
Two layers. (NB I have about 50 roughs with
    varying settings, most 72dpi) (novice).
Maybe I should print them all out and start
from scratch (trace them on the tablet)?

Sounds like you want to import a PTG file as a Tracing Image so that it's overlayed on to the main image. At the moment you can't do that with the PTG format, that will be fixed in a future release, so to do this:

    1. Open the original PTG file that you want to trace.

    2. Use the 'Export as Image' option in the File menu to export a copy of it as a JPEG or PNG file to disk.

    3. Open the template you have for your new file.

    4. Select the Tools / Tracing Options / Load New Tracing Image option from the menu bar.

    5. That will prompt you to load an image file, select the exported copy of your original PTG file.

The same goes with the Import Image to Layer option in the File Menu: You can import an image to its own layer but currently you can't do that for PTG file, again that will be fixed in a future revision.

The Import Image option will replace the existing file with the one you're importing, which is why you can't use it to import your old file to a layer in the new one.

Thanks for your explanation and advice. Much appreciated.
Unfortunately I have to dash out now for a few hours.
I'll try your method when I get back.
