    Maiella Mountain HermitageWIP

I used a reference aside this time and enhanced the colour contrast to separate close/ far and enlightened/ shaded.
I'll think to some paper effect to enhance the near field perhaps.

Caesar, youre off to a fine start! This one should turn out wonderfully. Ive always been intrigued by hermitages, visiting several in Spain over the years. Ive yet to make it to Italy.
The only problem with humor is that no one takes it seriously.

Thank You Scott! Here on the Central Appennines mountains there are several ancient hermitages, simple, but gorgeous romanic churches and smaller abbeys etc. These mountains top at almost 2.800 mt in the Maiella group and almost 3.000 mt in the Gran Sasso group. you may imagine the beautiful landscapes You enjoy there ...

Thank You Barnburner! You have to play a bit with colour temperature, tone and complementarity. Not that difficult once You have some theory too. I went on a little and I hope omorrow I'll post the final work (that looks sensibly better as ArtRage file unfortunately).

I'm glad You like it, dear Weembaman. I hope the final one will keep the promise!

Great mountain. It reads really well.

In the stone and trees I would perhaps employ some further differences, giving us more of a spacial reference of various depths. They're flattening out a bit.

I would recommend looking to group the areas so that they seem different from each other so the viewer has the spaces and planes sorted out for them -- lower wall, walkway, trees etc.

Nice how you lead the eye into the pic.

Caesar that looks to be really great. It looks like a great composition and it will make a fine painting. Looks good right now at this stage.

My dear Caesar, the contast of the warm tones against the cool tones of the background makes this a very inviting scene. It gives me the feeling of that warm, safe place in the middle of a cold chaotic world.
So, how do I get there? On foot or by donkey?

Only few kms on feet or by donkey once You leave the car.
Right impression about the colour contrast. That was the idea. Thanks for looking and liking.
