    frog in progress

here is the reference and my feeble beginning... I started with the eye because I figured it would be a challenge. Ended up faking the gold patterns with the glitter tool... painted the black area around the center landscape reflection in the eye. Then made a stencil of that area and used gold glitter to fake the eye patterns.

progress continues... Using mostly oil brush and chalk on top sometimes to add texture.

Painted the black area around the gold ring in the eye. Duplicated the layer with the black on it. Erased the other stuff that had shown up on the layer by forgetting to switch layers. Then I made a stencil of the black area.
Chose an irregular shaped gold glitter. Ended up using a larger size glitter. Later I added another layer to paint some black areas back in between the glitter.

Heree you can see two more stencils I made. One for the other eye black area and one for the white star shaped reflection on the main eye. Then I used the airbrush with a light blue white and lowered the opacity of the layer to give the effect of the highlight. Also used this technique for the reflected area you see at about the 3 o'clock position on the main eye.

I used the airbrush tool to make the yellow spots. I got too carried away with too many spots, but I am too tired of looking at it at the moment.
Here is the final for now.

    see below. VVVVV

Thanks for looking Robert! I could take it further but I got tired of looking at a frog. I think I was attracted to it by the reflection of the photographer inside the eye and that amazing pattern in there.

I think you should paint a painter in there. The frog looks great. now a shade and light side on the airbrushdots, and you will end up with a great painting. You've come too far to end it now !

I look forward to seeing it futher progress. If you're tired of it now, start something else, and revisit it later. Sometimes I work on 4 paintings at one time. Well I do faces, and they are not all beauties to look at after all... (not untill I have a go at their faces lol)
Just say: "Rage It", because we already know it's art.
