I had an Intuos1 A4 oversize and loved it. I got it working with XP but had to reinstall the drivers now and again. I can't recall exactly what the connection was, but am aware that there was a version that couldn't be used, because it was Mac dedicated and there was not a suitable adapter apparently.

I'm hoping someone else, better versed in the technicalities will chip in about now. If you find it's OK to connect, you should have a lovely time with it. I only upgraded because I had the chance to pick up an Intuos3 off Ebay.

it's a very good tablet. I have a new intuos III but my old intuos 1 is still connected to my other computer (the new one is only usb) and works fine even after long years (and I used it at least 8 hours a day, everyday)

I got miine about 6 years ago and paid £90 on Ebay (UK). It is a GD12x12

    Just saw this
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wacom-Intuos-tablet-12x12-A4-oversize-GD-1212-R-for-PC_W0QQitemZ330279149098QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item33 0279149098&_trkparms=72%3A1301|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A 12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

which seems to suggest they hold their value (ish) although this one is in the US
    - but also this one in the UK which needs bidding on
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WACOM-Intuos-Graphics-Tablet-A4-Oversized-GD-1212-R_W0QQitemZ140276027658QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140 276027658&_trkparms=72%3A1301|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A1 2|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
    currently at £15

Notice the connector in that one - It's the same as I had and worked for me on XP then with an adaptor - BUT I know I've read somewhere that it may be that only the USB ones work with more modern systems. Probably NOT with Vista (like that's a surprise) ???????????? Do check it out first. If it will work with your system, you WILL love it. It's great.

    Hi Pete,

Nick's being very helpful indeed but is probably just pointing generally to some of the places to begin your looking for a tablet. And his advice about problems with certain devices working or not is REALLY HELPFUL.

But I looked at the bottom link for fun (I don't need another tablet), and please note that it did NOT come with a 12 v. power supply nor PEN in this case. That's not a good thing IMHO.

So you may want to buy a complete package unless you want to piece it together from different sources who could claim if it didn't work it was because of the "other guy's" component.

Just take care and read everything in these e-bay (used) situations with electronics. Sometimes they're fine and sometimes not.

Good hunting! You got some great advice and places to start looking.

Good spot about the missing pen and power adapter D'Akey.
I hadn't looked at the details.

He's absolutely right Peter. Make sure it's all there first. A new pen can set you back £50+ on its own.

Wacom is an excellent tablet. Have one (Intuous 2 6X8) that helped me produce over 200 images. Unfortunately I currently seem to have trouble with the tablet. Whenever I press down to draw lines they run all over the place in swirls. Tried changing overlay sheet (gone through 5 or 6 of them) and nib yet that did not solve the problem since applying pressure directly to the surface without the overlay sheet resulted in the same problem. Attempted re downloading the drivers with the hopeful possibility that the program got corrupted somwhow yet still no fix. My tablet is in the dead zone of no use right now, yet still have a nice Medion tablet (larger) 9X12 that works really well. Thanks to Art Rage correcting a problem with this Medion tablet in version 1 I can still use this tablet for painting with the Art Rage program.
The very first digital art program that I worked with Art Rage 1

You may visit my personally designed website at: www.stephenlopiano.com
There is one section full of pages there under the Digital Artwork category that is devoted entirely to paintings I have created with Art Rage.
