If you go HERE (http://www.fashmir.com/AR_Forum/gifts/Oils.zip)

You can get a few color sets I made. They are all based on digitized versions of artist's oil colors. If you put them in your colors folder in resources, you can load them into the swatch pallet. They show all the colors I did with their "oil equivalent" names.

Here are links directly to 'col' files for those not wanting to deal with zip files.

Thank you David,

I always planned to make some of these but life got in the way. :)

I've tried to make a Monet palette but the research hasn't led me anywhere useful.

Glad to post it up. For those on Macintosh computers- could you clarify for me. Are you unable to open zip files? I have taken the time to put them up uncompressed (not that they needed compressing in the first place, it was just convenient to put them all in one file). You can find them here:

I don't have a problem getting zip files unstuffed...with stuffit application.
This gives me a folder of items with the extension .col Clicking on them will not open. Putting them in the AR folder under Resources>color does allow them to be used from within AR. The new binary files you posted act exactly the same way. I can place them in the resoures>color folder of AR and then load them through the color palette. They are interpreted by my computer as an mpeg file for some reason. I am guessing that it is the .col extension and that it is meant to be used in a resource folder and not meant to be opened. Is that correct?

Thank You very Much Fashmir....... :D :D :D

Fashmir

@ gzairborne- That is correct. When you elect to save a set of colors from the swatch pallet a .col file is created in the colors resource folder. I should have made that more clear.

@ Bumble- But of course m'lady. [Fashmir Bows] :D

i was going mad until i realized that the color pallet in artrage 2.5 can be obtained by checking the show color sample panel and clicking the inverted triangle on the left hand corner. now i can enjoy these wonderful color pallets. I can be a little slow some times.

Hi Fashmir,

I have been using your colour set for ages, its really one of the best...
BUT, big problem, since i installed the update to 2.5 last night, i can't load the .col file anymore... any ideas why?

I would appreciate any help you could give me...
perhaps you could even export them again for use with the update?

many thanks,

toby

Hi Toby,

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with those colors. I originally made them during BETA and haven't exported them since. I will export them afresh and post them up. Beyond that I think we may need to consult AndyRage on the matter.

Hi Toby- Here is a New Link (http://www.fashmir.com/AR_Forum/gifts/Artists_Oils_2.5.zip)
to a freshly exported file. Hopefully this will help you. If it doesn't do the trick, let's involve Andy.

I like them too and have used them for a while but I am excited about Sammy's new pallet. His veridian in particular is closer to what I get out of my paint tubes now. I used a set of colors that may have been shifted a bit here and there. That batch of paints which I purchased in Colorado in around 2002 was surprising to me. The Veridian was washed out and the sienna was not as vibrant.

I recommend to any one who has been relying on my set to have a look at Sammy's and do some comparison. Where you find more vibrance of color, consider replacing mine with his, that's what I'm doing.

Thanks Sammy for your excellent pallet.
