Hi,
i'm new here :)
i just tried out ArtRage and think it's a pretty cool Tool for painting... i've tried out painter once, but it was somehow too complex so i got scared and run away like a little girl back to my PhotoShop :)

Here's my first pic.

Greetings from Germany,
Raffaele

PS: Reference was a Photo from some Hair Stylist (can't remember the name :( ).

Oooh, that's simply gorgeous. The flowing hair, the smooth skin tones, the whole picture is just wonderful.
Welcome to the forum, Picster. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I really like it!

Has a real illustrative feel.

It's clean enough to look like it's done by a talented artist, and so I figure that the hair was a stylistic choice to make a point -- the accompany magazine article story is in the hair.

The hair's wild. broad brush strokey, or feels like it's done on a scratch board. This as opposed to the figure being so smooth makes me think 'mannequin' and even like a wig on a marble sculpture.

I'm seeing excess in this image, not the least of which is with the hairspray -- evokes thoughts of spikes and hayrides at a the chateau party -- almost a pastiche of aristocratic visual play and expensive artful dalliance.

Very specific because it's so out there in the non-real world, fashion runway context.

Excellent technically too.

Very nicely drawn and painted. The hair is fantastic. So is the blending and the composition and the use of
dark and light to add drama. Great portraiture!
