So this is my second ever portrait and I am quite pleased with it so far. The subject (my daughter) thinks she looks bloated and tired. To my mind thats the whole point of the picture, proud but tired mamma! Also I would like to try some skin imperfections, freckles and a less airbrushed finish, but not quite sure how this is achieved. I am using pencils, but its a fairly pastel look when on the canvas. Any suggestions how skin can be more textured? I probably won't be allowed to leave it anyway, as the subject has her own ideas lol

It is a very nice beginning, sorry that you didn't show the finished portrait.

I like the expression of his eyes in the 4th pic (they are more alive),
is not a bad idea to let a baby's sketch and to work more on the mother's face ;
if not, is better to work to all the painting in the same time as you have to balance the shapes and colors.

May be you will return to the forum one day and get the message,
it seams that we are not very communicative those days.
