View Full Version : Jagged Lines when drawing at less than 100% zoom

Hi everyone, hope you're having a nice day.
There's a thing happening with the smoothness of drawn strokes in ArtRage for me.
When I draw anything at a zoom level smaller than 100%, the lines appear wavy. The smaller the zoom the more wavy it gets.

If smoothing for the tool is off, then the waviness is very obvious.
If the smoothing is on, then the waviness is smoothed out some what, but it's still not one smooth stroke but rather a wobbly stroke.

For comparison, this is the same situation in photoshop CS.

I'm using a wacom cintiq 13hd, driver version 6.3.37.3
I have noticed the same issue with more than 1 wacom versions, but have not done any exhaustive testing.
It is possible that there are some version out there where this issue does not exist, if anyone knows about that I'd appreciate a heads up.

Thanks for your time and attention!

Hello zeddartha,
Hum… not sure what’s happening for you there:confused:
I’m also using an Intuos4, so can’t reproduce your hardware setup.
But, do you have Snap To Grid enabled in AR's Layout Panel? Maybe you could post a screenshot of what settings you have in there.
As I can sort of reproduce what you are getting at different zoom levels if I monkey around with a combination of settings in there + canvas size.
Also;
Which tool are you using. Pencil, Ink Pen or Custom Brush?
What size is your Canvas ie. H x W in pixels?
What OS are you on?
Do you have the latest Wacom driver; Mac 6.3.38-3 & Win 6.3.38-2

Hi, mark:

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Canvas size was 3600 x 2340 for both the Photoshop and AR images I uploaded.

I just updated to the latest wacom driver today and tried it again, same results.

I checked the layout panel and snap to grid is set to off.

Since you don't experience that on an intuos, it could be related to my hardware, I understand cintiq 13HD is a bit old at this point.

Sorry to hear it’s still happening for you:(
I tried a couple of other ideas I had but I still can’t reproduce your problem here:(
It might be worth contacting Ambient Design directly about this here: https://www.artrage.com/get-support/
Or by email here: [email protected]
They will be in the best position to say if it’s likely to be your hardware or is software related.
Hope you can get it resolved soon.
