Paint interaction of custom brushes

In Artrage 6 does the texture/thickness of the paint of custom brushes interact with other tools like the oil brush does? For example, can I put down a thick stroke of paint with a custom brush and smear it with the palette knife?

I just used various palette knives on various custom brushes and it works on all of them. Really fun.
