Getting in there and tweaking the skies. I love it. Could make a real specialty of it and who knows where it can go. But beside that, the actual doing of it, at least in my mind, as the artist it's like an affirmation. It's artistic, optimistic, and more than a little like a personal journal. Some people sketch on their travels. This is like traveling and having that sunset/sunrise experience anytime you switch on the computer. Very cool. These latest look great.

Thank you D Akey! For me, every painting is a journey anyway, but I love the idea that I travel through my paintings...

My newest. This time I smudged the paint more, which gives it a different look.

Thank you limey!! I love doing those skies. This last one was particularly difficult for me, but a nice way to learn a few things :-)

Very effective technique. Could see smudging working particularly well in those cloud situations. Very nice lighting and color too.

Thank you guys! I think i will try to give those band of blue clouds in the middle a bit more volume...

Made some smaller changes, esp to the blue clouds in the middle in the light blue part. Now they have more volume:

Lovely skies. I can see a great progression from the first to the last. Each is a little more complex than the previous one.

Nice volume. Good still life. Pleasing colors. Interesting how you have some bits showing the raw marks and then near it where you smoothed it out. Can get a good look at your working method that way. I really like the brushwork in the background too.

D Akay, I actually put some of the raw lines at the end, because I found it was all too smooth. Thanks!!

How cool. I may have never before seen a marigold flower though I have certainly heard of them in songs and colors and so forth. I didn't know some have those thin-lined edges like piping on a suit. I can see why you were interested in painting one. A real color statement. Nice one!

Thank you D Akay! My mom and I are kind of obsessed with them. They grow easily and one can collect the seeds for the next year. They come in all colors ranging from white to dark red, with a lot of yellow and orange in between. Lots of different shapes too. I found that honey bees don't like them, but bumble bees do :-D

I suddenly feel like a game of Parcheesi. Very cool idea. Great models, and you know they're going to sit still for you. . . if you don't have a cat that is. Neat.
