I'm going to be buying a new computer and am wondering about the memory requirements with ArtRage 5.

On my current computer (Windows 10), I am seeing for extra large paintings (12,000 x 9,600 @ 600dpi (20x16)) about 2Gb of memory usage from Task Manager. So, it is safe to say that with the OS using 2Gb and ArtRage using about 2Gb that I don't really need to upgrade the memory to 16Gb, right? 8Gb should do just fine as long as I stay out of other memory intensive programs while running ArtRage.

Double check me on this Houston, please...

I think that is what I read too Rondo. Thanks Man!

ArtRage is not using the GPU, at least not yet, so that is my concern. Does ArtRage ever use the space in ram from from 8Gb to 16Gb?

Thanks!

Well for my 2 pennies worth here, I would say if you can put 16GB in and the cost won’t leave you destitute! then do. You can never have too much RAM!:cool:
For me I would say in order of importance for a speedy AR experience;
1: Fast CPU
2: Lots of fast RAM
3: Fast HD (for better file Load/Save times)

Ahh, would that I were in a position to get a new computer soon:(
