I was so exited to read about the upcoming new ArtRage 5. Of course I will upgrade! But if I can win and get it for free, well it is even better. So I start out with my first sketch. I usually have my thumbnail sketches done on Post-It notes. Just like this one. 91688

So far today... I'll try to finish tomorrow, designing the background.

Well, this is what it looks like...

Yes, this is the background design. I tried to make it look frosty and cold.

I toned the saturation to fit the cold and frosty look. Added some snow and breath smoke from the man and dog... that's it! Original size 2700 x 2700 px at 300 dpi.

jmac and Abumiguchi,
thank you for your nice comments. Here is my next part of the illustration. It is the main character of it, it is the house where somebody lives in...

Thnx Kenmo,
I also like to keep tracks of my wandering mind so I can go back into my work to see what I did. I plan to place some trees behind the house. This is one idea. The others will look about the same...maybe...

Finally; the house, the snow, the cars, the star, the trees, the little man walking his dog and the window with the warm light. Size A3 at 300 dpi.

Wonderful, it all come together. Those cars are great. I know I'm a fan of your work, but this one looks like a winner to me. :)

I have just started thinking and sketching about the 3rd entry. Here is the "thumbnail" (well a bit bigger than that. Just a Post-It sketch 76 mm square)...

The kitchen - the background painting. Next to do: the window, the door, the table, the table cloth, chairs, and the man and the dog...and some more.

ArtRage Stencils are unique, easy to use and easy to make your own. In a illustration like this I had so much use of stencils. Every piece, every detail can be stenciled in some way, for shading, tinting, adding lines or just as a mask. Stencils are invaluable!

I am detailing and adding props. One more day of work on this piece before it is all done.

Maybe I will do the finishing tomorrow..? I will try to do it after my trip to town and the dinner party. I hope it won't be late for there is a snow warning. I don't like to drive home in the dark when it is snowing...so I will leave the dinner party early.

This is my third entry. I made three versions before I was (well, almost) satisfied... Phu..!
