Something many of us never see.....the night sky unaffected by artificial lights. Try as we might, we can never duplicate the beauty of the original. It is something I want to see at some point in my life.... the night sky and the Milky Way in all it's glory. The Originator of the Universe is an artist beyond our capabilities.

Bobbi I hope you get to realize this wish! I have been fortunate enough to see that a few times in my life and once near the equator and I was blown away by
all the stars and they went clear down to the horizon and you could see the milky way etc. really a life changing event for me.:):)

The desert in Joshua Tree National Park was that way for me long ago. And climbing the San Bernardino Mountains gave me some really great views. I had been reading 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C Clarke out on a big rounded rock that Joshua tree area's noted for, and as I read into the dimming light, trying to read more and more of that very visual book, the protagonist got to the place where he was pulled through a Star Gate or whatever it was (45 years ago makes the memory details a little hard to reach). Anyway, the point is, when I could read no longer, I looked up at the sky and all these stars were coming into view, as if right off the printed pages of that little paperback book. So I had that particular context which made me super attuned to the stars at that moment. But even without it, it was spectacularly clear. And you're right. It's worth seeing.

May you get your wish.

I hadn't realised that what I take for granted was a rare sight for others. Living on the plains I am surrounded by big skies with very little light pollution.

The constellation Crux - it's on our flag and known as The Southern Cross is in the Milky Way seen in our southern skies.

It is amazing and worth seeing. The moon was showing yesterday afternoon even though the sky was sunny and bright.
