Hi everyone, I'm new to Artrage and to painting in general. Trying to get the hang of colours and composition.
I did the painting below yesterday - using a saved photo as a reference. It still seems a bit flat to me. I've been working with multiple layers for the watercolours. Any advise would be most appreciated, thanks.

I'm not experienced... but, the original Photograph is taken in "flat light", which doesn't give you much to work with....
The main thing lacking is light and dark areas with a directional bias.

The more experienced(able) artists may not agree... just my opinion!
Good luck.

The colors and values are such that one's eye gets stuck at either the buildings or the shrubbery.
When looking at the photos, one's gaze can flow among the various sections

Welcome and a fine excercise indeed. Lovely scenario!
