Oil and Wc for these two, didn't like the one in the vase so put the flower on a new canvas , with a b/g of many enlarged copies of the flower with reduced opacity and a touch of the chaos blender then added some grasses and a bee :D

I love them. Really great stuff. The way you put the grasses in was just brilliant. Spacious and interesting but it sits back and supports the star of the show which is the flower and the bee. Very nice warm colors make it very inviting and perhaps a little dreamlike.

Super-dooper! A dalliance with a dahlia for Dell-iliah B. Too cool for school!

Love them, Jean! Seems like you're thawing out. . . er, warming up, despite the global dandruff problem just outside your window.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :p

justjean Dahlias are one of my favorite flowers for all their brilliant color and variety, there are some large Dahlia farms near Portland and in the fall it is fun to go gather some. Your paintings are great I really like it with the bee in the field, very warm and intimate. the vase painting not so much although wonderfully painted the blossoms seem a bit bright and large for that still life. love your work as always..:):):)

Love the flower in it's natural setting. The free brush strokes. The added bee. Terrific!

I agree with your decision to take it off that dark background and out of the vase. Looks really good! Love the bee too.

I like them both, but I do prefer the second one. It looks more "free" and natural. Gorgeous work on both.
