Hands haven't been working to well so I'm playing with stickeys
Background and clouds painted with ArtRage, trees by Kenmo, grass by SOS, cut out elk from WC reference then into an old old prog PSPV7 to add the sun rays, back to ArtRage to adjust colours :D

What a beautiful outcome. Did you feel a bit exhausted with all of that running around :D. I think it's great to use all of those resources and your painting is fantastic!

A wonderful pair of antlers on this powerful hart in the mist! It must be a quite seductive dominator and I'm sure even Neal's woo-sheep would be victims of his masculine charm ... LOL;):o
An excellent moody painting indeed! ... I'm still looking around to spot Bambi ...:D

. . .or Stone Soup? By the end of this folk tale, the villagers agreed it is enjoyed by all. Personally, I think it's the elk that made it particularly tasty.

It's really cool. You know how stuff works artistically so you made it very credible and a fine nature picture. I love the lighting. And of course it's majestic. So you're really making it work great.

Only thing, in future, you may want to make sure that you soft erase the crop line on the bottom of your elk or whatever you want to give the illusion of being behind tall grass. Right now, the line is visible like a lady's slip peeking out below the skirt's hem when not supposed to, and it's really the only thing taking me out of the scene and having me get to problem solving in my head.

Cut lines are probably fine in the context of a picture where other bits that show cut marks as well, giving it a style. But since this is all pretty well realistic, albeit idealized a wee bit for artistic drama (a great choice), you would probably want to avoid those kinds of things.

But this is seriously awe inspiring. You're cooking, JustJean! Excellent. . .

Thanks Caesar, the Elk are majestic creatures for sure :)

Thanks DA, you are always so encouraging. I see what you mean about the back line but the Elk was laying in snow and I had put a black stroke there intending to blend him in and I just got sloppy and didn't put enough weed and such in front of him, I'll try to watch my ps and qs next time :D:D

Okay, I didn't fade the edge out as I suggested before hand to do because there were no elements/layers to do that with. So I took it into Photoshop and cloned a little.

Hi Mr Ploos, when my breathing gets bad my hands shake but it to will pass until the next time :D

What's all this then? Just Jean! You keep yourself well and breathing properly. I'm concerned. Hope you're seeing the proper specialists and so forth.Be well and take care of yourself!

Spring's coming. Flowers are blooming. Time to thaw the watercolors. . . (Way yonder north as you are. . . does the watercolor tool work in ArtRage during the freeze? We should ask in the next revision of the program that they include a warming tool -- a warming tool that has global settings is what I mean to say so you don't have to wait on the weather to get right.)

Now take a deep breath and paint!

Jean..

Great idea and great painting. Very creative...

I think you could have done the sun rays in AR as well.. There is someone here who put out the comic manga pack that has rays in it.. I just forget who it was.. but he put together a great Artpack!!
