Looks like a Cattle Egret but I don't know what part of the world you are in so might be something else.

I like teh subtle manipulation of the brush stiffness to get the different feather looks.

Yes I agree, the beak is exceptional and I like the brushwork on the feathers; I find them so hard to do. I might experiment with that brush.

Definitely a Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis), in breeding plumage. Excellent artwork; which brush did you use to get the feathered effect in the head plumes? Without wishing to go down the route of another recent thread, how much of this piece is 'scratch' drawn and how much is is based closely on a photographic image?

I used the sparse bristle sticker spray presets, which tend to be the ones I use most often from the sticker spray at the moment. The painting was based on a reference photo.
