From a reference - I used the grid for the first time - as I can't draw, it really helps when sketching the outline - didn't trace!;)

I can't keep a straight face on this one. :D:D:D:D:D Those eyes are hilarious. The expression. . .wonderfully charming and certainly 'in your face' or somebody's face.

I like that you've been expanding on some of the tricks you used in your poppies picture. I like how you're playing around with the wet into wet kind of diffuseness. And then the sharp focus.

In the owl painting, what I might recommend is that when you combine the sharp and diffuse bits that you make a few more interim steps between the extremes. You don't have to make them proportionately equal. In fact having the steps progression staggered a little could make for an interesting visual. You got it happening in the poppies to some degree and I think it worked there. Otherwise the jump is rather abrupt as if cut out and pasted on. But the essence of what you're doing is great! And I'm just suggesting a way to be consistent with that tack and expand on it.

Anyway, I think you're on to something very cool. You have the elements happening. Just a matter of integrating them a little more.

Good fun, June!

Thanks all - very encouraging comments.:)

Mr.Akey- I see what you mean - maybe if I had blurred the beak a little it might have helped bring it together.

Trish - quirky, you are the queen of quirk! I think you would enjoy working with the grid.

banctor - yes, those highlights were important to put life into the eyes.

Caeser - That feels like a big pat on the back.;)

SCP - Grids certainly are a great addition to AR.
