hi jack,

get overwhemled with all these ships sailing and sea wave paintings. they're all awesome. they all took me lots of time looking at the detail.

could you also tell me what's the actual painting scale and canvas size of this painting?

pai....usually use the default size, the size the program starts with if you don t change it...and that is 1024x768,the only time I go any bigger than that is 2048x1536 there is not much point in going bigger than this because any finer details get lost when you reduce down to 800x 600 for posting on the forum... the reason that most people seem to go big is the finer lines you can get,as the tools become comparatively smaller on the bigger size picture... hope this helps you matey.... Jack.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your explanation. I have tried it right away. However, the default setting when I start the program is 1280 x 770. When I try to resize it to 1024 or 800, it only changes to 1024 x 616 or 800 x 481. It automatically changes. It doesn't go to 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600 :?

Am I missing some settings here?

The 1280 setting you have should be Okay for any normal painting.... if you want to go for fine detail... you just double up your number, which gives a line half the width it was before.../ I wouldnt worry about exact settings... basically the bigger size of picture,,, the finer or smaller the lines are... on a small painting of anything around 500 or 600 pixel width..your tools line becomes larger, and it is more difficult to do fine detail... your screen settings may be different from mine, so that may be the reason for basic default being different from mine.... Jack.

Pai - Don't know what kind of computer you are using, but I think the size of the picture in pixels will depend on your video card settings. If you are using one of the newer wide aspect ratio screens you will probably have different size canvases than others using standard ratio screens. Hope that helps.

hi jack and jvolkel, thanks for the detailed explanation. now i know why i couldn't do the sizes to 800x600. it may be because my PC. because sometimes when i printed in 6x4, the painting is not fully printed.
