What a hoot! Excellent event. Gotta love car enthusiasts. I can see where you got some of your inspiration for your 3D set ups with your cars and the feed store or whatever lies along the back route.

As photos go, that one with the cherry red jalopy with the blurred background is FANTASTIC!!!! What a great shot.

I tend to photograph more during the summer and digital paint,3D model & 3D render during the colder, winter months. Summer is too short in Nova Scotia to spend time inside on a computer. So in late fall the camera is retired and the Wacom re-activated....:cool::cool::cool::cool:

The photos of the animals where taken with my Olumpus E620. The lens is a Zuiko 70mm - 300mm. I recently gave the Zuiko lens to my cousin when I purchased my new Nikon D3300 and I also purchased a Nikon 55mm-300mm. I still own the Olympus E620 and an older Olympus E500 but now mostly use the Nikon D3300 as it's 24 megapixels and the E620 is 12 megapixels and the E500 8mp.,...

I bought a digital camera with 12mp years ago when it seemed like that was pretty high resolution. The file sizes at full were pretty darn big. I imagine that it's really good for taking pick of vast areas and zooming in. . . and in. . . and in. . . How far were you from that stag for instance? It looks like you could have fed him a lump of sugar like you would with a horse, and that squirrel looks like it's planning to steal your nuts.

Anyway, great stuff. Combined with the beauty of your surroundings and all the classic car people there you have everything you need to keep busy. Thanks for sharing this stuff. :):):):):):cool::cool::cool::cool::):):):):)

I shot in RAW and process the RAW file into a JPG using Lightroom 5. Using RAW allows you to bring out details in any under or over exposed areas. I then pass the image from Lightroom to Photoshop CC 2014 where I bring out the colors a bit more using PS plugins Topaz Adjust 5.0 and I do any noise reduction using Topaz DeNoise 5.0. I tend to do my noise reduction as my first step when I import into Photoshop...

Here's a photo of one of the many paths in Hemlock Ravine, Halifax, Nova Scotia...

My animal photos above were shot with my Olympus E500 and/or Olympus E620 dslrs. My E500 is 8 megapixels and my E620 is 12 megapixels.

In August of this year I purchased a Nikon D3300 dslr which is 24 megapixels. My old Olympuses (which I still own) are quite noisy when shooting on a ISO above 400 in low light conditions.
I do not have this problem with my Nikon.

I would recommend a Nikon or Canon if you want to get serious about photography because of the tremendous number of lenses available. I love my Olympus dslrs but lenses are somewhat limited for it.
This is not a problem with Nikon or Canon.

Cheers

Are you sure all this fun you're having is legal?:p:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

In the first one you posted of this batch - the path with the very vertical trees, owing to the pushed saturation giving it a paint daubed quality and also compressing with the depth of field, as well as that there's something of a bit of a pattern-esque almost daubed character to the bark and the fallen leaves, it's taken on the look of a painting almost more than a photo. I'm thinking of some of the WPA era painters, although this far surpasses the amount of detail in those paintings. But what they did have was a strong emphasis on pattern stylization over an attempt to give a modern photographic illusion -- they painted what struck me as if they had learned color from those colors in old magazine (which happened to be their era). And they also had a certain palette reflective of autumn in some cases that that photo now has.

Amazing level of textures as with the fur on all those creatures. I think digital often times adds to contrast a bit which is sometimes why taking pictures of people's faces is sometimes harsh. But it works great for animals and objects like cars and stuff where we're subtlety is not so critical as with people. At least that's what I've found.

Enjoying your photos. :):):) Also wondering what it might play out like when you incorporate some more painting into it, or painting over some of your shots, just for an interesting variant.

http://kenmo.zenfolio.com/img/s12/v186/p443995676-5.jpg

This is a photo composition of photos I shot in New Brunswick. I took several photos at Red Head, New Brunswick which were photomerged via Photoshop into a panorama. I then added the sky from another photograph I took as well as the birds. I overlaid a texture I shot (pavement) to create a paintery look...

I did take heed of your advice on this image "Wagon Cart in the Snow" - it was based on a very old photo I took several years ago (around 2005) with one of my first digital cameras, a point & shoot. The photo was really underexposed and lacked color. So I brought the image into ArtRage and painted in some details. I downloaded a trial of Painter 2015 and created a more paintery look to the photo and added the falling snow flakes in Photoshop CC 2014...

:) Ken! :)

Ab-so-lute-ly Fantabulous!

You make photos look like paintings. You do magic.

And you have beautiful composition.
And color! you don't just do color, you do COLOR!!
And lighting! so crisp and sharp and bright, and soft and cool and warm - all these, in perfect balance where they need to be.

The two dall sheep pieces (hyper-realistic paintings I tell you!), the spider, the ducks........ just... Wowzers. Picking up my jaw from the floor.

I'm amazed.

I could ramble on... but D Akey already said the rest of what I wanted to express, including,

(...)compressing with the depth of field(...)

(...)Amazing level of textures as with the fur on all those creatures(...)

in more efficient terms. So I'll just "ditto" to what he wrote. :cool::cool:

Edit:
And I hadn't even mentionned the marvelous pieces where you DID add paint. Simply flabbergasting.

Ken,

I totally agree with all these comments, and you bring up a topic near and dear to me. Creative photo composition, I first got into digital photography not to get crisp tack sharp photographs but to use them as a basis for creating "painterly photographs" where the human hand and enriched color sense could come into play and create something new and fresh. and I still love doing that I guess I am still struggling with mixed feelings about it coming from a traditional painting background .... but I still love your creations and believe them to be a new form of creative expression. If you take your painting into AR as a tracing image you can "paint" over with brushes on different layers using original color or new color , as I have been experimenting with although I have not posted any of that type of work.... as D Akey says "Go Man Go "

I'm really upset you're having a far more interesting environment to do art in than I. Hahah. Good jealousy. Great pics. Still going strong I see. Enjoy the heck out of it. I envision you driving all over the rural outbacks is not custom jalopy made from parts of this and that hot rod, camera with a super long lens, always with your weather eye out for something spectacular. Bet you've become something of a celebrity out there with the earthly folk. Just great. What a life style. And with internet services, what's not to love.

Go Kenmo!!!!!!!

Site is dedicated to the expulsion of the French settlers in Nova Scotia (referred as Acadians) by the British in the mid 1700s to Louisiana.

When asked by the English speaking folk in Louisiana where did they come from and what was their nationality, the poor English spoken by the Acadians was misunderstood to be Cajun which is what these displace Acadians living in Louisiana are still refer to today "Cajuns".

The statue in front of the church is Evangeline from the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Evangeline.
