Been an awful long time since I last shared some work. This was about 60% Artrage, 30% Photoshop and 10% SketchUp.

Thanks for looking :-)

I really like all of them. Very full of detail.

Especially fascinated with the lightning. For some reason that is something I've not been great at.

Any tips?

Wow! What great work. I love them all. Great imagination. I love the lightening. I have to confess that I'm a great TombRaider fan and can imagine myself exploring any one of those environments.

Unbelievable! They're all magnificent although the airplane wreckage is jawdropping! It's just a little less amazing knowing they come from a professional master like You! Welcome back to share Your marvels!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! Very much appreciated. And apologies for the belated reply, I've been away for a few days.
Orkhan: three of these were concepts for matte paintings for a video game ( the oil rig, aircraft and refinery images). Sadly the game got cancelled so I never got to develop these into finished versions.

Magen Sparks: for the lightning I work on two layers: one with a small hard brush, the other with a small airbrush to create the glow. Plus I always have a stack of reference images to keep looking at- we all think we know what lighting looks like, but studying photos shows that it's a lot more varied in shape than we might think. Hope that helps a little.

Wonderful.
I'd love to see you work. I'm squinting at these trying to tell which parts were achieved using which software.
If you ever, or ever have, done a blog post on your workflow, be sure to share the link!

Thanks Larry.

I've had a lot of requests to demonstrate my workflow. I'll put something together over the next few weeks and will post it here.

Briefly though, I generally sketch the composition in AR, then overlay photo reference in PS. At this stage I also add in any 3D elements from SketchUp. Then back to AR for lots of painting to integrate the elements and add detail, and additional bits and pieces, usually working on 3 or 4 layers. Finally back into PS to add colour-corrections, adjust contrast, etc. In reality I always have all 3 programmes open, and jump back and forth between them as the job requires.

Hope that helps a little!
