I really like the style and palette, is that something unique to this portrait or do you usually paint that way? Either way it's really well done!

hard to say. i think its just my style.
im an tattooer, and drawing for last 15 years, but good drawing only for 3-4.
maybe mind set is also an issue. i dont like realism. it is boring to me so portraits is new to me.

Wow. Did you make a canvas texture or get that ridged effect from paint thickness? It works quite nicely.
