Doesn't that highlight on the vase really gloss up the surface texture of that ceramic. Neat trick to fool the eye.

01-25-2014, 04:34 AM
Hello Jean...
'Strutting your stuff', the vase isn't wonky at all, my mom would love it.
I like the irises as well, I'm going to check back later to see if that lonely
bulb has bloomed...
Take care,

01-25-2014, 06:27 AM

Sort of "sad" but pretty, in the sense that a "weeping" willow is based on the downward direction of the branches. Nice Jean. I like how you painted the ground.

01-27-2014, 09:26 PM
Harmony in all its aspects is the common feature of all these marvellous floreal paintings.

01-28-2014, 03:30 AM
Thats so lovely Jean, it has a very calming effect, well done:)

01-28-2014, 06:59 AM

Nice stuff Jean! The darks really give your pics a solidity. Reminiscent of older period paintings. Good stuff.

02-11-2014, 08:33 PM

02-12-2014, 04:39 AM

This is so beautiful. Great work.

02-17-2014, 08:14 AM
Hello Jean,
All the shelves got rearranged, didn't see you at first....
Fantastic job on 'Lady', do I see the grim reaper playing that violin?
Collecting skulls as he fiddles...but your light of day as brought us happiness
watching the pups at play!
Beautiful work Jean,

D Akey
02-17-2014, 10:27 AM
Very nice. I am intrigued by the phantasmagorical Paganini. It was said he made a deal with the devil, or else how could he play so well and so fast. Well, the violin lives on and we wonder, like the sword in the stone, they who can draw the bow must be they who shall rule them all, my precious. . . Wait. . . that's Lord of the Rings. . . Quick, nurse, a mazurka to ground me!

Nice stuff JustJean. I like the portrait as well as the others. Cute skulls and nicely stacked puppies.

I particularly love the mountains. . . you do well with lighter, brighter fare. Very fresh feeling.

02-17-2014, 01:04 PM
these are all just beautiful Jean, you have such talent :):)

02-18-2014, 02:07 AM
Hello Jean, your work is sooo classy. The old lady, the violin played by a shadow, the pile of skulls, the landscape and even the puppies!! I love them all and in particular the skulls, one who is capable of going from some delicate flowers to the bones with the same elegant hand is truly talented! ;)

02-19-2014, 06:10 AM
Thanks for peeking in it's much appreciated Pat, LBMyers, Steve Mr. DA, Gary and Andrea :)

02-19-2014, 06:52 AM

Steady as she goes through the shallows.....
Nicely done Jean! Like how its misty and the fog
is blanketing the waters, also like the softness of
your mountains....
Take care,

02-25-2014, 08:36 AM
It looks like being there, I can almost feel the fresh air cutting trough those cloudy skies

02-25-2014, 11:47 AM
Jean, beautiful paintings, always enjoy peeking in

02-25-2014, 06:11 PM
Really nice - I always find your flower studies quite entrancing. That glaze on the vase really helps make this one pop. I'm not seeing it as wonky at all.

02-25-2014, 08:53 PM
Very calm, quiet, pensive views. I love Your style, so peaceful and somehow nostalgic.

02-26-2014, 12:55 AM
Great new addition, well done again:)

02-26-2014, 12:26 PM

These are such lovely paintings, Jean. I enjoyed viewing so much.

02-26-2014, 07:41 PM
Oh, I missed the latest somehow on my last post. The lighthouse is fantastic, and the other, well, the feeling of depth through that fog is tangible. Excellent as always.

D Akey
02-27-2014, 04:51 AM
Love these, JustJean! I particularly like how you're working soft and then hitting bits to sharpen focus through contrast. It is almost as if one is gazing sort of soaking it all in and then sees an area that draws special attention -- as with the light house. It reminds me of the effect that comes when in a lightly foggy atmosphere as it's lifting. In certain climates I've been in there have been places where the moisture is in clusters and is also diffuse, sometimes in the same place. One of the reasons I find the coast so fascinating. Beautiful work.

02-28-2014, 09:19 AM
Sandy, thanks for peeking in I'm happy you liked them :)
and HNQB your kind comments are very much appreciated :D
DA, me thinks your description of seeing hits the mark of how I see things these days :)
and always enjoy reading your comments as you are a wordsmith of the first order :D
