Santa was nice with me. He knocked at my door and brought me a new iPad Retina just as I decided to buy the Intuos Creative Stylus.
Well. Since I doodle around at every free minute and it came to that finished work.

Started on iPad and then on my desktop computer following the explanation of Khalid_ipda (http://forums.artrage.com/showthread.php?14613-How-To-Paint-Water-(Updated)&highlight=Khalid_ipda))

Here are the steps...

First I made a ruff traced image from a picture found on the Internet using the oil brush (with the stylus);
preset was "Thick Gloss" were I put "auto clean" to "no".

The picture was 1024 x 768 in size. Then I worked the file in ArtRage 4 on my computer, leaving the iPad and painting the water with the knife.

Used a lot the sticker spray. Smoothed out the stones with the Felt Pen (Hard Tip), created a layer for the grass, the foreground foliage
and the background foliage.
I had to create foliage and grass stickers from scratch to do that.
(If you are interested in those sticker foliages, I can put them in a next art pack, I forgot to bring it in my shared artpack I posted here (http://forums.artrage.com/showthread.php?45921-Sennelier-Color-Samples) today).
Had problems with the dead branch (on the top right of the picture) that was not well defined from the beginning.
The image was increased at a size of 3600 x 2400 at 300 dpi.

Nice work on a great scene!

Oh, I love this, that scene could be just up the road from where I live. :)
It was interesting to see how you went about it.

Great sense of lighting. It feels outdoors yet it also has an intensity in it that suggests an artist's eye. Good one! Kind of place I used to hike to.

Thank you to every one for your encouragements and your kind words. I continue my process of learning and trying other paintings.
Step by step. It took me 6 hours to finish that portrait of my nephew and his father. Here is the color blocking started on my iPad.

Brought the work back on my desktop and used those settings (oil brush) to sharpen the details.

And here is the finish (may be?) work.

Really great expressions on both, father looks to have a humorous side to him, like he's a fun person to be around?

And here is the finish (may be?) work.

Mike, I have a feeling your not done, has to many things going for it, to call it done now!

By the way!
"Down By The River"....Great Neil Young song!
And your painting, 'Outstanding'! Really like it!

Happy Holidays,
Take Care!
