The embracing...the empty sight... not only a great painting but a great emotional statement, also. Compliments!.

How on earth did I miss this one.

Fantastic. Really captures the mood, doesn't it.

Lots of mystery.

Always an interesting contrast between the so called festive tone that is implied by the costumes and the excessive gilt and ornament.

It seems like a conditional revelry that relies heavily on possession.

If I were writing a story about this guy, I don't get purity of heart.

But that's just where my mind went when I saw your amazing piece.

Brilliant, Bumble.

Hi Bumble
Could you tell me please, what does the word "copy" mean, after the Clown title? So much to learn! Thanks in anticipation....Marian

02-28-2007, 07:24 AM
Loki.....Thank You :D
Hello Lordofmoon and thank You....Yes reference picture was used. :D
Thank You Aged P....... :D
Selby Thank You...... :D
Thank You D Akey..... :D
Dear Levent Thank You.... :D

Marian, I usually export my images as PNG from Artrage. And I use a large size canvas which means the painting is too big in size to post. So I use photoshop to resize the painting and re-save it in Jpeg format. Photoshop usually adds 'copy' to the end of the file name when I re-save.

See now I'm REALLY wondering why you don't have a website - OR - why you don't have it in your profile here!?

I'd really love to see a gallery of your work!

03-11-2007, 06:30 PM
same here ! or a blog at least.

Dear Bumble, my favorite artrager!

This artwork, Carnivale, is my all time favorite ArtRage gallery display!

It is an absolute masterpiece. It spurs ones imagination. I can feel the eyes looking behind the mask, looking maybe in despair or envy or just plain curious. I remember the first time I saw it the light pole and the details within looks just like the ones I have seen in old town.

Just wanted to bump it back to the top. New viewers can start here. The rest of us look out for the official Bumble gallery...

All the best,

It' just wonderful, Bumble, however You did it!
The painting is really perfect.
The only little bug is the title (if it is, as it looks like, one of the Italian Carnivals, precisely the most historically famous, that in Venice of about three centuries ago looking at costume).
In fact the right word writing, if You're interested, would be Carnevale instead of Carnivale and the "e" would be not read as "ee" or "i" in Carnival, but as an purely sounding simple "e" ("ay" withound the last sound part).

Jeez thats freaking great!!! Love the concept of it!!! Really nice!!!

What a gorgeous work of art, so detailed. I too wonder if you did this from scratch or did you use a tracing image, it really don't matter, just curious as I am still very new to all this.

So beautiful.... the ruffle, the velvet cap, the light play on the pole. The color scheme. Wonderful mood and wonderfully painted!

Hi Bumble,
I have just stumbled across your work and found your picasaweb gallery where I had such a happy time browsing.

Brilliant stuff, wonderful to look at. I don't know if you will see this post but I too wanted to know if you had any kind of reference for this particular image or if you mixed more than one reference.

Sophie :)

Very rich and luxurious painting. Wonderful palette. I can see it has taken some time, but it has considerable depth.

What is it about clowns that somehow makes me feel sad? I get the same feeling with this one a bit. Maybe the hollow eyes.

Yes very good. If I can progress to this level digitally I shall be happy.
