Thanks for the kind words and toughts... D Akey, i had no one in mind for the preggy angel but as i was working on it i remembered different stages of depression and exaltation on my lovely wife. I intend to extend the angel galery, as i have some new ideas for them. :-) ... looks like i'm in the winged period

A fantastic ride! You seem to paint very freely and confidently, like if You start throwing color drops and stains and then You use the knife draw, pull and blend up when it shows what You saw since the starting brushstrokes ... I like them all.

Orkhan
03-05-2014, 07:08 AM
thank you Caesar. Ideas are so many, and never when i'm infront of the white canvas/paper/monitor... still gott the "white terror", everytime... until i start drawing the first line, but when the first curve in made frenzyness kicks in, and i realy enjoy how the theme is revealing itself... at the end i can tell only if it was a good or not so good conversation with the muse :-)

That's some Transylvanian Ala Prima painting, there. Yikes! Now what did I do with my ring of garlic, wolfsbane, crucifix, Smith and Wesson with the silver hollow point bullets, holy water, chainsaw, what am I forgetting? Oh yeah, linseed oil, damar varnish and cobalt drier. . . oh and Doctor Who's Tardis for a quick getaway. . .

Celtic was evocative of Stonhenge, menhir and dolmen which seem to emerge directly from Your subsonscious. As for the last character, we all have to meet it, so let's keep serene and, possibly, trustful thereabout. It may be not the end ....

That kitty looks like he's gone and done something sneaky. Have you seen the kids or the dog lately? :)

like the water color feel of this.

D Akey
04-25-2014, 02:19 PM
The expression on the cat is as if it's looking at the 'paw' print and thinking. . . somebody (definitely not a cat the evidence shows) is sure going to get into trouble for leaving prints on the monitor. . . I think I'll go hide where but where I can still watch the reprimand. Should be a jolly good show.

Nice watercolor effect. Light and cheery with lots of expression.

Orkhan
04-25-2014, 07:55 PM
Thank you all, heheh. Cats have their way :-)

D Akey, the paw is going trough some field tests as it is intended for a future signiture. The cat is happy that the mark has not landed on her rear end as a reward for leaving her paw marks on my kitchen table.

so MagenSpark you were right, she did some sneaky stuff :-) The kids are not around thats why the cat is so confident, and the dog is her subject anyway. Cat rulez pam-pam!

Victor Osaka I was anxious to get it done, and by the end of it I was too tired to bother myself with the background. It was for the first time i used masking layer, i still got to learn the hang of it... and i see some potential with overlaping. I had to use a lot of wet and blur knife to achieve the watercolourish sensation (with wich i'm still not satisfied) and the default weapon was a custom sumi-e brush.

What a joyful dance of color and values -- It really looks as if you put something down and then the painting told you where it wanted to go and then you added something else and so on in a give and take between you and the pictures. It's like watching a dance, truly. Tell that to your mom and she may be able to relate to it more.

Not being sexist, but I think most women can relate to dance metaphors as being something compelling, and moms sometimes just have to have a little help to catch the vision that drives us. Being an artist is something that many older people see as foolish as doing a hand stand at the edge of the precipice.

My grandfather, who weighed in very late after I was making my living at art, basically through I had studied to be an engineer and once he heard I was an artist became very derisive. But that was me Scottish heritage grandfather who had no problem telling people exactly what he thought. And that was his lesson as everybody pretty much distanced themselves from him later in life. But I digress. . .

You certainly don't need to be a professional to get a lot out of painting. The joy it produces is a proper fuel for all kinds of endeavors. . . even the very practical and grounded job related ones.

Go man go!

D Akey you busted me! Lol, indeed is what I enjoy most: grab a colour and start dancing with it, and then invite more to the party ( I would call it "Painting with no parts of the brain" - hahahahaaaa)... and sometimes the results amaze me (actualy always). But there are moments when it is so exhilarating, oh boy! It's like pouring all the creativity for one season trough one hour of "wild dancing"... and after that I feel the emptiness... Oh God! Autumn is comming, it's when my mojo kicks in mostly :D

Yes, Good Year to you and your family.

I think that watercolor is a very good tool for you. A good focus where the tool does not really allow for overworking so that your images could be 'on purpose' where you pick something to paint, clarify what you are painting and then do it in an economical way. Lends a freshness and spontaneity -- and the paint works as a fellow participant in the creation process as it creates its own unique marks.

Cool. So what happened to the body or the fuselage? I think this one is from the planet Romulus in the Star Trek universe. This one grew up around the lab where they have been experimenting with stealth technology and cloaking devices. I could just hear the meeting in which they say they still are working the bugs out. ("working the bugs out" = double meaning. Not sure if it translates, nor if it's worth translating.:rolleyes::rolleyes::p)

So many artists to collaborate with. It removes the distance of time and brings them right into your room. Got to love that we have so much history available. It's also good and bad that we don't have the actual artist offering their comments in more than their art. That part of the interpretation is something of a blank canvas for us where they're all our friends and collaborators. Nice exploration.
