I'm sorry You're under such a lousy weather, but Your art seems to benefit of such conditions too!

D Akey
04-08-2014, 06:39 AM
Yeah, you had ample opportunity to send the rain our way. And we got a little. But do you have to go and take so much of it? Share the wealth, for pity sake. Nice even distribution of the weather would be something to work on as a hobby, I think. Good effect with the rain. She looks a bit down in the dumps over it, or the weather is being all dismal like a best friend's sympathy. The minimal background works out great to show diminished visibility from the weather.

Hello Katie.... I like the painting, hasn't really started raining much in my neck of the woods.
Your painting is suggesting its pouring where you are, I love it when it does, good time to paint!
What's Debbie doing out alone and where's Gene and Donald, I feel a 'Song and Dance' coming on...

Like you were out painting with Monet and set up in a somewhat different location, still using his model. Nice painting, Ms Coops!

D Akey
05-13-2014, 11:35 AM
Courageous indeed! Very slender.

Like everybody else, I have to applaud your colors! Wow. Really works in a very unexpected way. But then your colors are often times what make your work stand out. And in this case your color zings the subject in at us at an unexpected wavelength - so I look at the tension being created between erotic interest based on the non-academic context for a nude and fascination with the unusual way you supercharged the picture with skillful color use, having minimized some of the other expectations that artists might show, like fancy brushwork or mixed color, the creation of volume, or steamy hot shower effects etc.

You trimmed it down on several fronts -- and backs. And it's really effective. Shows the power of color.

This is beautiful dear Katie.....as if she has surrendered herself to the overwhelming beauty of the garden....
Love the way the detail of her kimono has become part of the imagery of the garden, almost as if
becoming part of or blending into one continuous image.
Take care friend,
Steve

D Akey
05-24-2014, 03:58 AM
I love how the kimono decorations integrate into it all the garden energy, as if stumbling onto a nature spirit who has a marvelous kimono that tells the story of her domain, like a medieval tapestry might reflect something about the family in whose castle it's hanging. I have learned my lesson about garden divas and very much respect this one and will remain at a slight distance, in case she's temperamental. What does one get a garden spirit? A splendid bucket of water? Could also double for fire safety as well to cool her down if you see her showing the least bit of ire.

But all silliness aside, this is a very rich feel to it, and it anticipates her turning around when she's finished getting up. And what will she look like? Very mysterious.:cool::cool::cool::cool::):):):):)

Very lovely scene. She looks like she's ready for a fun evening out dancing. Good evocative, though somewhat enigmatic emotion -- could be interpreted several different ways looking at this painting over time. It would reflect changes in our point of view and thus could well change the feelings associated with the imagery. The colors have a bit of a 'moment trapped in amber' giving it a nostalgic feel. Very lovely effect, Ms Coops! :):):):):):cool::cool::cool:

Very theatrical and 'on stage'. I can hear the music - at least in my head there are a lot of strings swirling up into crescendos as the characters sweep around each other in this dancing duel. Quite the dual duel ballet - swordplay and chess.

They used to have a computer game called Battle Chess in which the pieces animated and destroyed the opposition in fanciful ways when capturing the opposition. I dare say these characters look like they have even more elaborate and artistic moves in their repertoire.

Very cool. Glad to see you posting again. Like everyone else I too thought you got stuck in the mud in the garden or ensnared by some exotic creeping vine.

It puts me in mind of one of those old romantic stories celebrating the persistence of memory. It's like wandering through the haze of time past, like trying to catch the attention of someone about to board a passage in the night fog. A very rich atmosphere has this one, Ms Coops. The lack of clarity and specific detail takes it out of the analytic and make it feel all the more in the realm of the emotional.

Boy, you sure are good with textures Ms Coops! Love this one. It all seems both nostalgic and vital all at once. I really like how we have enough info for the imagination to fill everything else in. It's rather an engaging enticement, as it were, for the impression of a story to be picked up at any point, whether beginning, middle or end. Pretty darn cool.

Merry Christmas Ms Coops to you and yours. Let that imagination loose on the canvas again and again, wherever you run off to. Don't stop painting. You really make ArtRage feel like real mediums are at play.:cool::cool::cool::cool::):):):):):coo l::cool::cool::cool:

To me, in this context it's all about lightness and joy and permanence, like she found more lasting life within the canvas rather than being merely a wispy fancy of someone lingering their creative momentum in the clouds for but a for a Winkin, Blinkin and Nod. This could well be a spot in the creative treasure trove from whence joys of a certain, light being emanate and take shape.

Is a really nice painting, Ms Coops. If Maxfield Parrish's model had an origin point, this could be it.

So glad to see you painting again and posting it here. Always a joy. And thanks again for the lovely congratulations thread.

It's such a gentle, soft, delicate tonal painting that I'm pretty sure You would be able to paint with clouds too ... but there's plenty of time before that kind of wings-supported practice or for playing the harp in my wishes, not less than a century in Your case .... LOL:o;)

I love this one! Has kind of a master of puppets kind of vibe for me -- one in which a dancer is made of clockwork parts. . . only this one was so cleverly made that it's starting to show signs of a soul. . . music swells and the curtain opens. . . and. . .

Really nice the way you have the gear motif playing throughout the image. Really established up front the theme. And her pose of course is evocative of being moved rather than her doing it of her own volition. . . again. . . therein lies the tale for me. Stories so often start out with something out of balance and the rest of the time is spent trying to resolve that flaw. This painting says all that to me at a glance.

Well done, Ms Coops!!!!!

Like a pattern becomes art and in an artistic break-out decides to no longer be repetitive. This is a gorgeous interwoven story with scene, cast and all. It's as if the lady is having a story tapestry woven, swirling around her like a cocoon, though whether about to unfold her new wings or she's entering the cocoon is beautifully ambiguous.

Gorgeously articulate and mysterious as if watching a dream in a foreign language.

So glad to see you painting and sharing them again.

Indeed Wow! This one has a gorgeous overall wood burl kind of feel, like a natural ornament. Perhaps this is how a forest spirit, a dryad tells a poem, in a context such as this. I really love the subtle background texture, and the way the trees flow in. And of course the figure takes center stage beautifully. It's as if a master carpenter, while working one day, did a cross cut of a burl and discovered this marvelously evocative scene, and later added the butterfly as an inlay or marquetry. Wonderful romantic painting, Ms Coops. . .

Magnificent! I love the way you've got the contrast of the clean figure silhouette with the sort of patchy overlapping tone to the whole thing. It's like a transition from old metallic to a porcelain or glass as in a jukebox.

I could see this being called Jukebox Muse in a Rural Tavern. You know -- you know the place, you know the songs.

And here at the bar on some backwoods road, a lone trucker gazes into his beer. He watches her slowly come into focus transported by the song that's playing.

Beautiful painting, and so creative.

Hot diggity dog! Camp Cookery in the Wild -- The Musical.

The scene is set with the opening number: All these boy scouts are gathered around the fire, and enters center stage, this fiery little pixie shows up dancing through the crackling cinders, while all the huddled boy scouts are watching the show, getting their weenies toasted.

Can you imagine if they were able to produce these effects on stage? Wow. You're staging some pretty spectacular shows.

The music is coming into my head and this one is really animating. Drums and horns. Go!

(BTW, thank goodness your signature butterfly can handle the heat!)

I love this painting. Reminds me of my chiropractor.

. . . who happens to dance. (only kidding). Wish I was this flexible and strong. Speaking of strong, these are strong colors and saturation. Very powerful. A visceral dance in which the dancers seem to be defying physics a bit, as dancers often do. But this feels like a very strength style dance. So the richness of everything in it implies that tone.

Very nice to see you back! You've been missed and hope you were up to no good and thus got it out of your system.
