This is my first attempt at watercolor painting (using artrage). Its very basic but I quite liked it so I thought Id share it. It evolved from a line without any real ideas. Thanks Stuart.

Simple but very watercolor in it's effects. Nice play!

It's amazing how you can start with no real idea of what might come next, and it just grows on its own. Well done! :)

Excellent. A minimum amount of marks for a maximum effect. Looks very skilled.

Thanks to all for the nice comments. I have never done this type of art before. I am an engineer and was taught the value of precision in drawing. My earlier sketches tried to create as much detail as possible.
A friend of mine said this "The trick is just to draw it and decide later what it is. Confidence breeds confidence: you'd be surprised how often, once you learn to draw a line, any line, and do it boldly, the line turns out, if not necessarily precisely as you wanted, at least a fair representation of what you see or imagine." So I drew a wavy line and it could have been anything, a leg or a branch or a flag, but when I added the second line it looked like a bonsai tree to me so I added a few more lines and a reflecting pond and this is what I got. It was basically a doodle. I wasn't going to post it but my wife said I should. Its amazing what you can do with a little imagination, a great piece of technology (Wacom) and great software (Artrage)...Stuart

Yeah man. . . careful or you're going to be stripped of your plastic pocket protector and slide rule. Your steam locomotives are never going to run quite the same now you passed through the tunnel and out the other side into the Kingdom of Rorschach. You can stay on the tracks, but the landscape will really get interesting. And if she's this supportive, you should always listen to your wife. She is probably quite comfortable in this realm.
