View Full Version : Dancing Dragon

This is my first piece where I tried to colour lineart which I'd done quite some time ago. I did the pen and ink drawing of the dragon about 9 months ago (or so) and inspired by some youtube videos coloured it with Artrage. I did not use the graphic tablet but my finger on the touchpad of my laptop, so I went over the lines in many places and had to clear that up with the eraser. I had the sketch on one layer, the background on a second and did the colouring on a third.
Looking forward to your critique and comments!

You really have drawn the dancing motion of this cute dragon. I don't know much about art, I am still learning myself too. At least I knew when I clicked on it, right away, I see the happy dancing dragon. A very successful drawing to me. :)

Great colors and pose on the dragon. Painting is like music, the more you practice, practice, the better you get.

Thank you very much, Pai and Tonyjazz! I think that with using Artrage I found a way to combine drawing and painting!

Good way to go Ulla. I to am just a hobbyist so i cannot critic anything about art. I love the colours of the dragon what i i would do is soften a bit the background so the dragon would stand out a bit more. That's just me...i am curious what others would suggest .Lovely dragon painting.

Ya ta ta da yadda. . . tappity tap tap tap. . .

Wonderful fun. Love his date night 'outfit'. He's dancing in front of the mirror getting ready to go out and as they used to say "Paint the town red".

AT-TA, Alexandra, Robyn, Jean, D Akey, Byroncallas - wow, thanks so much for your encouraging comments! I am a hobbyist myself - discovered Art some two or three years ago. I tried to do digital painting with photoshop but I failed and got very discouraged. I am so glad that I discovered Artrage and can be a member of this wonderful community here!

Dragons are usually a bit on the hostile, fire breathing side but what's not to
love with this happy go lucky mythical beast. Whimsical and well painted! :D
