In 1988 at the Antlers Hotel in Colorado Springs I took a photo of lightning that has eluded painting for years. It was a one time pic that I'll never forget and captured. In spanish I love the term: " Relampago ". AR4, oils, knives, 3 layers.

Powerful! This loghting looks like the one striking St. Peter's dome when pope Benedict announced he was leaving! (There were pictures of it) :eek::cool:
To possibly add to Your ethymological curiosity I may say that in Italian it's called: lampo or fulmine or saetta or folgore.
These terms have non casual relations with the English: lamp, fulminate, sagittarius.
Actually all of them (and some others in my answer here) are derived from Latin. :)
