Having raised Siberian Huskies since the late 70s thought I would have a go at some sledding dogs.

Thanks Pat, I have attended plenty of sled races in my time, but we raise Siberian show dogs ( the pretty ones) whereas the racing lines are bred for speed and endurance.

Wonderful effort. Love the tongues!
Thanks, yes when they get racing the tongue always comes out as a means of cooling.

Geoff,
your choice of the cool blue for the sky contrasting against the warmer dogs that have just a bit of sun on them is a great combo and serves to feature your terrific subject really well! Great job!

Thanks my idea for the sky was to keep it low key and to give the impression of the team coming over snowy hilly ground heading down to the finish line.

It is such a beautiful painting and I am such a dog lover. You paint them so well. Maybe you remember my golden retriever paintings. They are wonderful subjects. Thanks for sharing such an exuberant picture.

You have done a wonderful job on this Geoff, everything about it is beautiful, the feeling of movement in the dogs, the plumes of snow, the lighting, gorgeous.

Thanks Marilyn Anne, Christine & Jean really appreciate your kind words.

Just a little background on Siberians, they really love to run and at a big race when they are using eight dog teams it can take 1 person on each dog to hold them back until the off. The noise of the yelping because they want to be off is deafening .
The lead dog controls the direction of the team and it is all with voice commands, no reins or anything like that.
