Build up using multiple layers, lighter tones and the top, darker tones at the bottom.

I l ove the scene and the colors. I think you have captured the essence of a lovely scene in every detail.

A wonderful painting, it has great depth and the eye is led right into the scene.
Who would have thought that something as simple as an old gate could turn into this.
Well done.

Thanks everyone, generally I don't like picking up the colours ( I call it smudging), but I was doodling from one of my favourite photos I took one summer in one of my favourite places. :) It took me a bout 3 days to complete.

A most exceptional WC painting, but quite normal for an endowed paintress like You!

wow a very creative landscape.. I love the distant hills and the red poppies.. but what really is interesting the the blue rag tied around the post.. very interesting artistic element.

Through the magic language of what you included, I can easily see a youngish tomboy farm girl in pig tails in her one kick-around dress sort of thing leaning or hanging on this fence looking past us. Clearly not needed but that's who populates this environment for me.

I think part of that is the fabric used holding the gate, and the rusted vertical bit. Nice combination of textures arranged here. I like the little color bits. Adds so much to a straight panorama shot. Were I doing it, which I'm not, I would push the extreme distance back ever so slightly into a subtle sky bluish haze kind of effect, just because that's how I personally paint. I'm just kibitzing. Yours is extremely nice as it really yanks me in.
