He is a work in progress of a Meerkat. I don't seem to be able run script files very well with my animals they start to freeze and corrupt, probably because of the amount of strokes in the fur.

Wow Christine I see another masterpiece in the making, the detail in the fur is fantastic.
Cant wait to see the finished results, you sure have a great deal of patience .

Thank you Geoff, doing all the fur is quite therapeutic. I had a break yesterday I had a day out with my two grandsons, I forget how tiring they can be.

I think the MeerKat is done but I may spot something I have missed, now for the foreground and background this will take longer:rolleyes:

I have done a background which has taken much longer to do then the meerkat, but I can't make my mind up whether I like it, it looks to busy. The meerkat itself looks like it is levitating above the rock, I just can't seem to get it right.

Hi Christine it is looking good, my comment would be that the Meerkat is very in focus, but the rocks on which it sits are not so this makes it look non realistic.
Two items that are on the same focal plane should have the same degree of sharpness to make it look correct to the eye.
Hope this helps.

Thank you Geoff, I can see it now the focus is totally wrong. In the original photo the meerkat is sat on a tree trunk and a plain green background, I think it was taken in a zoo. I thought I would put in a more natural setting. I am wondering whether to just have it standing on the sand and forget about the rock.

Well I do not know much about the animal other than what I see on tv and then they just seem to be playing in the sand where i assume they have their burrows.
So I guess sand would be my choice to make it authentic, but on the other hand having it on some kind of log or wood of some kind would add some interesting tones to balance out the painting .

I have tried with a log and it still looked wrong, so I am going with just the sand. There is still some shading around the feet and touch ups here and there but I think now its getting that time to leave it alone.

Yes I really like this, that is how I see them on tv.
Well done.

Thank you so much Geoff for your input, it' very much appreciated. Doing the animals gets easier with each one I do but the backgrounds I just can't get to grips with, my mind just goes blank. I know I still have a few touch ups to do like shadows and any missed bits of fur but I am happy with it now.:D

I still cant get it to be sat on the ground rather then above, I have tried blurring the edges but it's to harsh. In ArtRage pro on the computer there is finer adjustments to the blur tool on the iPad it seems to be either on or off.

I think this is the best I can with the tools on the iPad, I added an extra layer and did some more sand then blended in with the fur.

Thank you Geoff for taking the time to look and give some great suggestions, they are very much apprecited. It would be really good to have a some sort of splatter on the ipad the same as in artrage pro with the glitter tool, hope we can have it in the next update.
