I have been going thru my Andrew Wyath and Sargent books. I will be experimenting with subdued palettes for a while, I think. 1 layer, Impressionism, Oils. Orig working size appx 5400x4200 at 300 ppi. I worked full-page, or actual size, just to get a looser feel.

Well skylar I love it, great use of light, both direct and reflected, wonderful depth to your painting.

with the subdued palette the focus becomes tones and light and form which you have captured so well here..it is a more poetic artistic stance..

skylar, because you mention Wyeth, I have to say that my recent experiments in drybrush are actually based on the look and feel of Wyeth paintings, which have a "lean" rather than oily look, and as you say a subdued palette, mostly earth colors, which I favor, and at the same time, Morning Light seems to pay attention to Sargent's more full-bodied brushstrokes ...
