In opening this one, it is so well resolved visually that I take things to be as they appear. And as such, it feels wide open and fresh. To me this one is about a child who is nearly a blank canvas, full of possibilities and imagination. I think a particularly lyrical part is that the clouds and the breaking waves are handled in similar ways, owing to the overall lightness and pale purples. It feels like that handling is a deliberate part of the theme.

The figures of the child, the birds and butterflies are what have attention and focus given them where they have a symbolic presence. I love the idea of him being surrounded by guardians - not the fierce type, but the guides, like students from The Jiminy Cricket School of Advanced Reflections on a practical field trip. Ah, Grasshopper. . .

It's very well painted indeed, Ms Coops. And it feels thoroughly uplifting. :):)__:cool:__:):)

Love it, supurb!

I especially love the way the ripples have texture, and how delicate the clouds are, and the contrast of the pale sky and water with the strong colour on the child and... Oh, I think I just like everything about all of it :)

I also like this very much. And I like the whiff of a threat to the little one from the sea behind him, for me, it just adds a nice edge to the guardians being there.
